In short, my dad died.

I’m not entirely sure when I’ll be getting back to The Cow. Hopefully soon. Like, before the end of May, but I’m not sure yet. My brothers and I have made our mom the top priority in our lives, making sure she’s taken care of and helping out with everything ranging from funeral preparations to mowing the lawn and taking out the garbage.

Unfortunately, I just haven’t had either the time or the will to work on drawing. My life has been in pretty much constant upheaval over the last four or five months, and the comic has suffered. I apologize, but at the same time, I’m sure you understand.

On the bright side, it looks like I have a girlfriend for the first time in years.

I hope to return soon with new comics. Good ones, even.

The reason I haven’t updated the comic in weeks is because there’s been a lot going on in my life. Some good, mostly bad, and mostly not directly to me. There’s some stuff going on in my family life that, while I’m not exactly involved, I’ve ended up being a large part of the support system. I’m kind of the one people go to when they need to vent, or I’m the one rounding up or passing info to the rest of the family. It really kind of sucks, but in a lot of ways it’s also brought me closer to my family than I’ve ever been. It’s just been really stressful.

Now, I’ve been sitting here with two or three pages scripted, and I’m not very happy with them. Unfortunately, all the brain power it takes to write has been diverted to dealing with various family crises, so I haven’t made much progress with the script until this weekend. I’m going to try and finish the script tonight, and the drawing will be much easier to take care of. I can kind of shut my brain off and draw, for the most part.

So, the bottom line is I’m trying to get back up updating next week, starting Monday, April 16. Now, the big family thing is an ongoing issue that won’t go away any time soon, so I can’t promise I’ll never miss another update, but I do promise to try and let you guys know what’s going on. If you’re the praying type, my family could use some prayer, hopefully everything will work out and things will get back to normal. We would all appreciate it.

In other news, I’m going to be at UBCon this weekend for the third year in a row. (TaberMan> You going?) Now, if it wasn’t exciting enough, Doug “The Nostalgia Critic” Walker will be there! And Colesquid of Manly Guys Doing Manly Things. And the dude who played Trunks in DBZ, I guess. I’ll have prints, posters, t-shirts, book copies of The Cow, drawings and much more! (Well, not MUCH more, that’s about it, actually. . . . ) Stop by. I’ll be in Artists Alley with my sidekick\roommate Brian. And possibly a flashing LED jacket.

And the beginning of a new issue. And for the first time in forever, the cover is actually colored on time. Seriously, that’s like, huge for me.

I really need to figure out how to write out a dramatic music cue that isn’t just “dramatic music cue” or “Dun dun dunnnnnnnn!”

And that is the end of this very silly story.

Well, for the most part. There’s another epilogue Monday. Then the next issue starts. Yaaaay. I should probably start working on that . . . .

And, after a three week stint of long hours at work and filling in for many, many sick coworkers, I’m finally back on track with updating.

I kinda sucks being the guy who knows how to do almost everything at work, but at least the paycheck will be nice.

If I’m lucky (and no one else calls in,) the next comic will be done Monday night\Tuesday morning.
